How to ruin a masterpiece song in half an hour using a pencil and Photoshop.
Just to clarify: I'm the greatest Nightwish fan on earthly face and I adore every single note from The Poet and the Pendulum, but the very first time I read the title, I was like: "Huh? Did Tuomas write a song about himself being hypnotized by a pendulum or what?!".
I know, I know... I'm a stupid girl.

Thank you very much for the comment and for the fav!
For the lack of references about Poe's "The Pit and the Pendulum", well... according to me, there are A LOT of references! ("The blade fell upon him", "For years I've been strapped unto this altar, now I only have 3 minutes and counting", "The morning dawned upon his altar", "The blade will keep on descending", the sound of the blade at 09:58 and so on).
Actually, TPATP is not supposed to be a tribute to E. A. Poe: it's sort of an autobiographical song, so the blade we're talking about has to be a metaphor, not a real pendulum swaying above a pit...

Whatever walks in my heart will walk alone......
It really ought to have some with a title that so blatantly rips off "The Pit and the Pendulum."
Just my two cents.

That's true, but I gotta say, I'm still better at the use of such a title for something not really Poe-related. >_>'
